Along the Continental Divide Trail, each state flower adds its own burst of color to the landscape. Bitterroot appears in Montana’s dry, rocky hillsides and open sagebrush flats. Columbine dots Colorado’s high-altitude meadows and shaded forests, especially near streams and alpine lakes. Indian paintbrush lights up Wyoming’s sunny slopes and grassy meadows, often growing alongside other wildflowers. Bloom times vary, but late spring through midsummer is the best window to catch them in full color.
