Sizing FAQ
How do I find my size?
The easiest way is to measure a shirt or hoodie you already own and like the fit of.
Lay it flat on a table and compare those measurements directly to our size chart.
Our charts show garment measurements, not body measurements.
How to Measure
1) Chest
Measure straight across the chest from armpit to armpit.
Then compare that number to the chart.
Example: A shirt measuring 21 1/2" across the chest is approximately a 43" chest circumference.
This is the most important measurement for fit.
2) Body Length
Measure from the highest point near the collar down to the bottom hem.
This determines:
- Overall coverage
- How the shirt fits under a backpack hip belt
- Whether the shirt rides up while hiking
3) Sweep
Measure straight across the bottom hem opening.
This helps determine whether the fit is:
- Tapered
- Athletic
- Straight
- Relaxed
If the sweep is smaller than the chest: more athletic fit.
If the sweep is equal to the chest: straighter fit.
4) Sleeve Length
Hoodies / Raglan Styles
Measured from the neck down the sleeve to the cuff. Because raglan sleeves do not have a shoulder seam, this includes part of the shoulder area.
Short Sleeve Shirts
Measured from the shoulder seam to the sleeve opening.
What if I'm between sizes?
Size down if:
- You want a slimmer technical fit
- You prefer less fabric movement in wind
- You wear your sun hoodies close to the body
Size up if:
- You like a relaxed fit
- You layer underneath
- You want extra airflow in hot weather
Do your garments fit slim or relaxed?
Sun Hoodies
- Technical hiking fit
- Slightly athletic
- Longer sleeves for mobility and thumbholes
Button-Ups / Trail Shirts
- More relaxed fit
- Designed for airflow and movement
- Slightly longer body length for backpack coverage
Why does the chest measurement seem small?
Because the garment is measured laid flat.
Example: 22" chest = approximately 44" total circumference.
Multiply the flat chest measurement by 2 for approximate circumference.
Should I use body measurements?
We strongly recommend comparing to a garment you already own instead.
Garment-to-garment comparison is usually much more accurate than body measurements.
